Day 347: Waiting

Well, I declare! Only 18 days left in my 365! Woohooo! As a last hurrah, I’ll be running a 10 day selfie project along side my good friend and photog Nicole. You can check out her results via her Flickr stream here:
It took a while for me to figure out today’s shot, mostly because of the “blinds” effect. While I was fairly happy with the result, I would have liked the “blinds” shadows narrower. In order to get the shadow effect, I tried a couple of things, actual blinds (though they were white metal and ended up acting more like a soft box), strips of black poster board taped to a dowel stand. Neither of these worked to give me the sharp “blinds” shadow I wanted. Finally, my *awesome* assistant helped me haul our Nelson slatted coffee table over and prop it up. That did the trick as close as I was going to get for the day.
