Day 253: New Growth
I was tired of selfies and set-ups today, so I thought I’d take my camera out and about to see what I could find. I liked how the bright sky was back lighting these leaves, emphasizing their veins. I especially liked the symmetry of the larger leaves but also of the emerging baby leaves.
Speaking of emerging, if you weren’t paying attention to the hubbub surrounding Flickr today, their newish CEO, Marissa Mayer, shocked and alienated professional photographers everywhere. Cheri Frost’s post to Petal Pixel pretty much sums up what I think many pros were thinking: http://petapixel.com/2013/05/21/rip-professional-photographers/ I am not a professional photographer (yet!), and maybe I never will be, but I was disappointed by Marissa’s statement, especially as Flickr seems to be on the verge of several exciting changes. Professional photographers are an incredibly hard working group of individuals who are forced to innovate, educate, update, and re-envision themselves and their work constantly, just to maintain. I think they deserve a great deal more respect than Flickr gave them today.
