Day 226: Stormy Weather

15/30 of 30 Days of Music

Inspired by Etta James’s “Stormy Weather” –

Boy did I have fun with this one. First, I love the challenge of putting together a shot, particularly if it seems difficult. For today’s shot, I did my best to control the ambient by balancing my shutter and aperture. I initially had my flash on full power but dialed it back a bit so that the highlights wouldn’t be quite so bright and I’d get a nice disappearing background but also get the double duty of “rain” illumination. Many thanks to my rain assistant today. She was fabulous! We were thankfully able to keep the “rain” (and aptly aimed garden hose) off of the camera and light stand. Win win.
