Day 225: Take Five

14/30 of 30 Days of Music

Inspired by Paul Desmond’s “Take Five” performed by the Dave Brubeck Quartet – www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHdU5sHigYQ

I love jazz. Love it. Not that silky smooth stuff, but that dark, rich, smokey sound that lingers and curls around every object in the room. Today’s shot is of a saxophone. I found shooting the sax a little tricky as it’s a pretty long instrument and fairly straight. I thought I’d angle it on top of its well worn case and throw in a hat and the suggestion of a cigarette.

    • Thanks. Yeah, I thought it was essential, too. I didn’t have enough room on the front of the case to show the cigarette so I was hoping just the smoke would evoke the idea of the cig at least…and of a break.
