Day 221: I was just, I was just, I was just…

10/30 of 30 Days of Music

Inspired by: “I’d Rather Go Blind” by Etta James –

Sigh. All kinds of things didn’t go my way today. I usually refrain from bashing myself or a day’s shoot, but these tears could have just as well been about my camera struggles today. It’s just so frustrating to see a clear image in your head and not be able to translate it to picture. What I wanted from this shot was a reflection in the drink (as mentioned in the lyrics), in addition to the side of the cheek/face with the tear. Unfortunately, most of what I was getting was up-the-nose reflections, which didn’t fit my vision. ;-) Maybe the glass was wrong (couldn’t tip it far enough) or I just wasn’t holding it at the right angle. On top of not getting my reflection, I couldn’t get good light on my teardrop, either. So I caved. This is a composite, one shot of everything but the teardrop and then one shot of the teardrop isolated from another shot I’d taken long ago. I had high hopes of patching a reflection of the cheek/tear in the composite, but I ran out of time.
