Day 63: “Wingardium Leviosa!”

This is shot no. 11 in the Literary Series, over 1/3 of the way through the series! Today’s shot is from J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Shot Specs:
1.6 sec @ f/1.8, 50mm, ISO 100, Canon 480 EXII @ 1/64, Hytec LED desklamp

How I did it: There’s obviously a little editing magic going on here. For the original shot, the strobe is on a light stand, about even with the table camera right and pointed up at an angle at the feather. My youngest was actually holding the feather, and I’ve edited out her hand/arm. I used the desk lamp as the main light, shooting it through a diffuser and down at the little magician from about 6 feet. Post processing magic is in the lens flare added to the tip of the “wand” and the omni after light added to give the flare an added glow. This is my most adventurous processing so far!

  1. This is great! Hard to do pictures when the movies have been done (without looking like you are recreating the movie). I am reading this with Eileen, so fun to re-discover it.
